Our client, based in Newmarket, is looking to recruit a Graduate Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate (or someone early in their career) to gain hands-on experience in electrical design within a supportive and well-structured environment.

The Role

As a Graduate Electrical Design Engineer, you will work closely with senior engineers and other departments to support the design and development of electrical systems and products. Key responsibilities include:

Assisting with the design of control panels and switchgear in line with customer requirements and relevant standards

Supporting compliance with legislative and safety requirements, with guidance from senior team members

Producing electrical schematic and layout drawings using AutoCAD

Preparing supporting documentation such as bills of materials and basic test procedures

Assisting in the selection of electrical components for UK and international applications

Taking part in design reviews and quality checks

Working collaboratively with sales, production, and quality teams to provide technical support

Developing an understanding of sales engineering and customer requirements over time

About You

To be considered for this Graduate Electrical Design Engineer role, you will ideally have:

A degree (or equivalent qualification) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline

A basic understanding of electrical design principles (industrial or commercial environments preferred)

Some experience using AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical (academic or placement experience welcomed)

The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings

A proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong attention to detail
