Fire & Security Engineer Job Overview
Our client is looking for an experienced Fire & Security Engineer to join their growing team, working across a varied portfolio of social housing and commercial sites. The role covers a broad range of systems, including fire alarms, access control, door entry and security systems, providing an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys variety and hands-on technical work.
The successful engineer will be responsible for reactive repairs, planned preventative maintenance, servicing, installations and system testing across multiple client sites. The position requires someone who can manage their own workload and deliver a consistently high standard of customer service and workmanship.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years' experience in Fire & Security engineering, with strong practical experience in fault-finding, servicing and maintenance. They will have a good understanding of BS5839 and be confident working across a range of fire alarm, access control and door entry systems.
The successful engineer will be a reliable and organised problem-solver with a positive, can-do attitude. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently are important, alongside a willingness to support the wider team and participate in the on-call rota and occasional overtime.
Fire & Security Engineer Key Responsibilities
* Carry out reactive repairs, servicing and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across fire and security systems.
* Fault-find, diagnose and repair fire alarms, access control and door entry systems.
* Complete installations, inspections, testing and remedial works in line with relevant standards.
* Accurately log completed works using CASH and provide clear and detailed service reports.
* Support compliance with BS5839, health & safety requirements and client standards while delivering excellent customer service across multiple sites.
Fire & Security Engineer Requirements
* Minimum 3 years' experience in Fire & Security engineering or a similar role.
* Strong fault-finding and maintenance experience across fire alarms, access control and door entry systems.
* Experience with systems such as Morley, Kentec, Advanced, Gent, Protec, Paxton, PAC and Videx.
* Good working knowledge of BS5839, with experience of PPM, emergency lighting and system inspections.
* Full UK driving licence and the ability to travel between customer sites.
