The Opportunity We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established compliance and building services organisation seeking an experienced Fire & Security Supervisor to oversee the delivery of fire safety, security, and compliance-related maintenance programmes across a large residential portfolio.
This is a leadership position for a technically competent professional with extensive experience in fire safety systems, security systems, contractor management, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will provide operational and technical oversight, ensuring maintenance, inspections, repairs, testing, and remedial activities are delivered to the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.
The role combines people management, technical leadership, customer engagement, and compliance oversight within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Performance Management
Lead, motivate, and develop a team of engineers, technical operatives, and field-based supervisors.
Conduct regular one-to-one reviews, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
Identify training requirements and support professional development across the team.
Promote a positive, accountable, and safety-focused working culture.Operational Supervision
Manage day-to-day delivery of planned preventative maintenance, inspections, reactive repairs, testing, and remedial activities.
Coordinate engineers and specialist contractors to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently.
Monitor work quality, productivity, and performance against agreed service standards.
Assist with scheduling, resource allocation, and workload planning.Technical Compliance
Act as the senior technical point of contact for fire and security maintenance matters.
Provide guidance on fault diagnosis, compliance requirements, technical standards, and best practice.
Support maintenance and servicing activities relating to:
Fire alarm systems
Fire extinguishing equipment
Smoke ventilation systems
Emergency voice communication systems
Emergency lighting interfaces
Access control systems
CCTV installations
Door entry systems
Automated doors and gates
Warden call systems
Communal TV and satellite systems
Backup power equipmentQuality Assurance & Auditing
Carry out site inspections, technical audits, and quality checks.
Review completed works to ensure compliance with legislation, industry standards, and internal procedures.
Investigate defects, technical issues, complaints, and non-conformances.
Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives where required.Contractor Management
Oversee the performance of specialist subcontract partners.
Review qualifications, accreditations, training records, and competency documentation.
Assess risk assessments and method statements before works commence.
Monitor service delivery standards and ensure contractual obligations are achieved.Compliance & Safety
Ensure all activities are undertaken in line with current health and safety legislation.
Promote safe working practices and adherence to approved procedures.
Support compliance with building safety regulations and wider statutory obligations.
Maintain accurate records, certification, reports, and compliance documentation.Client & Resident Engagement
Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, residents, and stakeholders.
Support the resolution of service issues and technical escalations.
Contribute to high levels of customer satisfaction through professional service delivery.Commercial Support
Assist with quotations, variations, material procurement, and work-in-progress reviews.
Support efficient contract performance and operational targets.About You To be considered, you will ideally have:
Essential
Proven experience supervising fire and/or security maintenance operations.
Previous responsibility for managing engineers, field teams, or specialist contractors.
Strong technical understanding of fire detection and life safety systems.
Experience working within regulated or compliance-driven environments.
Knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and certification processes.
Fire industry qualifications (FIA or equivalent).
Experience supporting accredited fire system maintenance activities.
Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
Strong IT literacy including Microsoft 365 and digital compliance platforms.
Full UK driving licence.Desirable
Experience within residential property, social housing, housing association, local authority, or public-sector environments.
Exposure to additional compliance disciplines such as:
Emergency lighting
PAT testing
Lightning protection
Fall protection systems
