We are currently recruiting for an experienced and qualified Fire & Security Engineer to join the Property Compliance Team of a well-established charitable housing organisation, responsible for providing and maintaining homes and services for residents across the region.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a customer-focused property compliance function, working across a range of residential properties and helping to ensure fire and security systems are safe, compliant and fully operational.
The role will cover Andover and the surrounding areas, with regular travel required. A company van, fuel card, iPhone and iPad will be provided.
The Role
As a Fire & Security Engineer, you will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, repair and installation of a range of fire and security systems across occupied residential properties.
Your responsibilities will include:
Testing, servicing, repairing and installing fire alarm systems
Working with addressable and conventional fire alarm panels
Maintaining and repairing emergency lighting systems
Working on AOV systems, including standalone and fire alarm-linked systems
Servicing and maintaining CCTV systems
Working on door entry, door access and door operator systems
Identifying faults, carrying out repairs and installing replacement equipment where required
Completing emergency testing and reporting any defects or risks identified
Accurately recording works, test results and defects using in-house reporting systems
Completing job tickets, timesheets and other documentation via iPad
Liaising with colleagues, surveyors, contractors and other teams to ensure works are completed within agreed timescales
Providing a professional and customer-focused service to residents
Participating in the out-of-hours emergency rota, approximately 1 in 10 weeksYou will be expected to work to relevant British Standards and industry requirements, with the role including work across systems such as Advanced, C-TEC, Gent, Xenex, Morley and Twinflex.
About You
We're looking for someone with a strong background in fire and security engineering who is confident working independently and in occupied residential environments.
You'll ideally have:
A minimum of 2 years' industry experience
FIA training modules or equivalent qualifications
Good working knowledge of fire alarm systems
Experience with door entry systems, including Videx, KMS fob systems or similar
Knowledge of AOV systems
Experience across multiple fire and security disciplines
Experience identifying faults and completing repairs
A full, clean and current driving licence
Good IT skills and confidence using mobile technology such as iPadsAn electrical qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
Experience within the social housing sector, including liaising with residents and arranging access to properties, would be desirable. Experience with fire extinguishing equipment, aspiration systems and automatic door closure mechanisms would also be beneficial.
Training and additional qualifications can be provided for the right candidate.
Most importantly, you'll have a professional and polite approach, strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with residents, colleagues and contractors. You'll be comfortable working alone while also contributing effectively as part of a wider team.
The preferred location for this role is within approximately 20 miles of Andover due to the travel requirements.
