About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated English and Maths Functional Skills Tutor (Level 1) to support learners in Basingstoke. The role involves delivering high‑quality, accessible teaching across both subjects over two days per week for a 19.5‑week period.
You'll be working with learners who have Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), so experience adapting teaching strategies and breaking down concepts clearly is essential. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a supportive setting.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging Functional Skills English and Maths (Level 1) sessions.
Adapt teaching methods to support learners with SLCN.
Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback.
Work collaboratively with staff and contribute to a positive learning environment.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, learning plans, and progress.
Requirements
Experience teaching Functional Skills Maths and English (Level 1 essential).
At least 6 months experience working in UK schools in the last 5 years.
Understanding of, or experience with, learners with SLCN.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Ability to build rapport and create an inclusive learning atmosphere.
Relevant teaching qualification is desirable but not essential depending on experience.
