You'll support our engineering team throughout the product development process, assisting with concept development, electronic circuit design, prototyping, testing, certification and production. The Role
This position is approximately:
70% Electronics Engineering
30% Electrical Engineering
You'll work alongside experienced mechanical, electrical and electronics engineers supporting the development of next-generation industrial products.
No two weeks are the same. One day you could be assisting with a mixed-signal PCB, the next helping troubleshoots embedded hardware, building prototypes, supporting product testing or assisting with product certification.
What You'll Be Working On
You'll contribute to the development of products including:
Hazardous Area (ATEX & IECEx) electronic products
Embedded electronic systems
Mixed-signal PCB designs
Industrial sensing technologies
Access control systems
Security products
New product development from concept through to manufacture
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the design and development of analogue and digital electronic circuits.
Assist with the development of single-layer, two-layer and four-layer PCBs.
Support the development of mixed-signal electronic systems.
Assist with producing schematics and PCB layouts using Fusion Electronics.
Build and test prototype electronic assemblies in-house.
Troubleshoot electronic circuits and assist with fault-finding activities.
Use oscilloscopes, logic analysers and other laboratory equipment to investigate and troubleshoot electronic systems.
Support embedded firmware development and hardware integration.
Assist with producing wiring diagrams and low-voltage electrical designs.
Support EMC testing and product troubleshooting.
Produce and maintain technical documentation, build instructions and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Support production during new product introduction.
Liaise with suppliers and manufacturing teams where required.
Assist with researching new technologies, components and engineering solutions.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
* Understanding of analogue and digital electronics.
* Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics.
* Knowledge of PCB design principles.
* Practical electronics assembly and soldering experience.
* Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Experience using oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters or similar electronic test equipment.
* Good communication and organisational skills.
* A practical, hands-on approach to engineering.
Desirable Skills
* Knowledge of Embedded C/C++.
* Knowledge of microcontroller-based systems.
* Familiarity with UART, SPI, I²C, CAN or RS-485 communication interfaces.
* Knowledge of mixed-signal PCB design.
* Awareness of EMC principles.
* Knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems.
* AutoCAD LT.
* Fusion 360.
* Awareness of CE, UKCA, ATEX or IECEx compliance.
