Location: Central London – site-based across multiple projects
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum
Benefits: 25 days annual leave
Employment Type: Permanent
The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an ambitious Electrical Graduate / Junior Electrical Commissioning Manager to join an established commissioning team working across a range of high-profile commercial construction projects in Central London.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Engineering graduate or an electrically qualified professional looking to develop a long-term career within commissioning management.
Working alongside experienced commissioning professionals, you will gain exposure to complex building services systems, electrical testing and commissioning activities, contractor coordination and project delivery. The role offers a clear opportunity to develop your technical expertise and progress towards managing commissioning activities independently.
We are keen to speak with candidates who have a solid electrical engineering foundation, a practical understanding of electrical systems and a genuine interest in developing within the commissioning sector.
You may currently be working as an Electrical Engineer, Electrical Project Engineer, Electrical Site Engineer, Electrical Commissioning Engineer or Electrical Supervisor and be looking for the next step in your career.
Applications are also welcomed from recent Electrical Engineering graduates with strong technical knowledge, relevant placement experience or a keen interest in building services and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Working closely with senior members of the commissioning team, your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting the planning, coordination and delivery of electrical commissioning activities across multiple projects.
* Liaising with contractors, subcontractors, consultants and wider project teams to ensure commissioning activities are coordinated effectively.
* Reviewing electrical installations to assess readiness for inspection, testing and commissioning.
* Assisting with electrical inspection, testing and commissioning procedures.
* Reviewing test results, technical information and commissioning documentation.
* Supporting the preparation and monitoring of commissioning programmes, schedules and progress reports.
* Identifying, recording and tracking technical issues, ensuring these are followed through to resolution.
* Witnessing electrical testing, demonstrations and commissioning activities.
* Assisting with the preparation, review and completion of commissioning records and handover documentation.
* Developing an understanding of integrated systems testing and the interaction between electrical and other building services systems.
* Working alongside experienced Commissioning Managers, gradually taking ownership of specific activities and work packages as your experience develops.
The position will involve working across multiple projects in Central London, providing valuable exposure to different building types, electrical systems, contractors and project teams.
About You
We are looking for a technically capable, motivated individual with good communication skills and the ambition to build a career in commissioning management.
Ideally, you will have:
* A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
* Practical experience in electrical installation, inspection, testing or commissioning, or relevant placement experience as a graduate.
* An understanding of electrical systems within commercial buildings or the wider building services sector.
* Familiarity with electrical inspection and testing procedures.
* The ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
* Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
* A professional and confident approach when communicating with contractors and project stakeholders.
* A willingness to work on-site and travel between projects across Central London.
* A proactive attitude and a genuine desire to develop within the commissioning industry.
A 2391 inspection and testing qualification, or equivalent practical experience, would be advantageous but is not essential for candidates with the right technical foundation and potential.
Graduate Candidates
Applications are particularly encouraged from recent Electrical Engineering graduates who are keen to gain practical experience and establish themselves within the construction and building services industry.
For graduate applicants, we would ideally be looking for:
* A strong academic background in Electrical Engineering.
* Relevant industrial placement, internship or work experience within construction, MEP, building services or a related engineering environment.
* Good technical knowledge and a logical approach to problem-solving.
* A practical, hands-on attitude towards engineering.
* Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with a range of project stakeholders.
* The motivation to learn, take on responsibility and progress towards a commissioning management position.
Candidates without extensive site experience will still be considered where they can demonstrate the right attitude, technical ability and commitment to learning.
