Reports to: Head of Operations
Location: Manchester City Stadium
Hours of Work: Full-time (40-hour per week contract).
This role requires a flexible approach to hours, including regular weekend and Bank Holiday shifts to meet the demands of the attraction.
Overview:
Wire and Sky is partnering with Manchester City FC to bring a brand-new rooftop adventure attraction to the city. Visitors will be able to experience the stadium from a whole new perspective, as well as take in the spectacular city panorama, at this all-new rooftop adventure.
We are looking for an adventurous and enthusiastic team to help launch and deliver this attraction in Autumn 2026, and as Duty Manager you will play a vital part in the success of this brand-new experience.
Your number one priority will be to assist the Operations Manager in delivering a safe experience for all participants. Our aim is to deliver attractions that are; Fun to take part in, Safe for both staff and customers & Profitable for all commercial partners.
You must have experience in similar positions and should be able to provide evidence of your leadership capabilities. You need to be a natural communicator, comfortable working outdoors and at height and have an enthusiastic attitude.

Principle Responsibilities:
Health & Safety
- Assist with ensuring compliance with all health & safety matters as set out in W&S Operating Procedures.
- Assist with the maintenance of health & safety records and logs—including maintenance schedules, equipment defects, and risk assessments—as directed by the Operations Manager.
- Assist with reporting all accidents to the relevant parties, ensuring all correct paperwork is completed.
- Carry out daily site checks and report any variances to the Operations Manager.
- Oversee and ensure correct rigging procedures for the abseil and zipline.
- Oversee and ensure correct fitting procedures of PPE (Personal Protection Equipment).
- Assist with the management of any rescues, incidents, or accidents that occur.
Customer Liaison & Service
- Employ a friendly, helpful, "can do" attitude and remain calm under pressure.
- Assist in the kit up and de-kit of participants.
- Ensure disclaimers and waivers have been filled in correctly and signed.
- Deal with extraordinary client requests, customer queries, and complaints in a polite and professional manner.
- Ensure other staff are similarly upbeat and helpful towards customers to help create an entertaining, exciting, and social environment.
- Deal with daily problems and issues as they arise, referring to the Operations Manager if they are significant.
· Help create an entertaining, exciting and social environment in which daily activities are carried out.
· Uphold & enforce limitations and conditions to access, as set out in Company Operating Procedures (e.g. height restrictions, parent to child ratios)
· Deal with customer queries and complaints in a polite and professional manner
Staff Management
- Lead and inspire the staff team by setting a professional example and maintaining motivation through proactive listening.
- Assist with scheduling staff, ensuring correct cover, fair allocation of hours, and an appropriate balance of qualifications and experience across the attraction.
- Assist with staff communication, keeping the team fully informed of any changes in company operating procedures and policies.
- In the absence of the Operations Manager, provide first-level disciplinary actions if necessary.
- Assist with identifying staff training requirements, including technical skills, soft skills, group management, and refresher training.
- Ensure the attraction is fully staffed, instructing replacement Climb Guides in the event of sickness.
Site & Commercial Management
- Ensure all PPE is stored correctly, kept well-organized, and prepared in advance wherever possible.
- Ensure standards of cleanliness and tidiness for facilities and equipment are maintained at the highest levels.
- Keep abreast of all security issues and maintain regular communication with stadium staff and security.
· Assist with monthly audit of all PPE
· Assist with monthly PPE inspections
Expertise
- Complete in-house training and be signed off as competent by W&S.
- Understand full operational processes covering technical and safety-related procedures.
- Maintain an excellent awareness of Health and Safety and the ability to follow procedures strictly.
- Be fully conversant with all Operational documentation.
- Ensure proficiency and a sound knowledge of operational software systems, including Dropbox, Monday.com, and BreatheHR.
- Be prepared to seek advice from senior management where necessary.
Essential Skills
- Previous management or supervisory experience (preferably within a similar outdoor activity or visitor attraction setting).
- First Aid training.
- Previous knowledge or experience of PPE Management.
- Comfortable working outdoors and at height, with an enthusiastic and flexible attitude to work.
- Ability to communicate at all levels and remain calm under pressure.
- Strong customer focus with experience delivering high-quality guest experiences.
- Well-organised approach to task and time management, featuring excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to use initiative and remain self-motivated.
- Strong IT literacy.
Desirable Skills
- Adventure Activity, Mountaineering, or Climbing Experience.
- Knowledge of rescue techniques and equipment.
- Hold a valid certificate in one of the following qualifications:
o Single Pitch Award
o Rock Climbing Instructor Award
o IRATA Level 1 or above
o Climbing Wall Award with Abseil module
