Our Course Marshals will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and enjoyable operation of the golf course. Acting as the visible presence on the course, Marshals will be responsible for maintaining pace of play, supporting members and guests, and overseeing the effective start and flow of golf societies, matches, and Club competitions.
This position is ideally suited to individuals with a strong understanding of golf, excellent interpersonal skills, and a genuine passion for delivering an exceptional on-course experience.
Key Responsibilities
• Patrol the golf course regularly to monitor pace of play and overall course activity
• Proactively manage and maintain appropriate pace of play in line with Club guidelines
• Assist in the smooth starting and coordination of:
o Golf societies
o Club competitions
o Matches and events
• Provide a welcoming and supportive presence for members, guests, and visitors
• Offer guidance on course etiquette, local rules, and safety where required
• Monitor daily golf and tee sheet bookings
• Act as a point of contact for on-course queries, issues, or assistance
• Liaise with the Pro Shop and Club Management regarding tee times, delays, or incidents
• Ensure adherence to Club policies, dress codes, and standards of conduct
• Report any course issues, hazards, or maintenance concerns promptly
• Support the overall presentation and reputation of the Club through professional conduct and a keen eye for detail
Person Specification
Essential:
• Good working knowledge of the game of golf and its etiquette
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Confident, approachable, and proactive in engaging with members, guests and visitors
• Ability to manage situations diplomatically and professionally
• Reliable, punctual, and well-presented
Desirable:
• Previous experience in a golf club or customer-facing role
• Understanding of competition formats and tee sheet management
Working Hours
• Flexible working pattern, including shifts across Monday to Sunday
• Weekend and peak-time availability required
