We are looking for a reliable, caring Cook to join a friendly nursing home team in Grays. You’ll help prepare nutritious, home-style meals for residents, including specialist diets, and support a safe, clean kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook meals for residents in line with menus and dietary needs
*
Cater for special diets (e.g., diabetic, low salt, texture-modified/soft/puréed) and allergies
*
Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety
*
Monitor stock, assist with ordering, and reduce waste
*
Work closely with care staff to support residents’ preferences and mealtime experience
What We’re Looking For
*
Previous cooking experience (care home/hospitality experience preferred)
*
Understanding of food safety and safe kitchen practices
*
Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willing to obtain)
*
Ability to work to routines, manage time well, and work as part of a team
*
A warm, respectful approach when working around residents
Desirable (but not essential)
*
Experience with dementia-friendly catering or texture-modified diets
*
NVQ Level 2/3 in Catering or equivalent
