Job Title: Complex Care Support Worker

Location: Clients home

Reports To:
Care Coordinator / Clinical Lead

Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, person-centred care to clients with complex health needs within a private home care setting. This includes supporting individuals with spinal cord injuries and delivering specialist clinical interventions while promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care

Support clients with spinal cord injuries (SCI), including paraplegia and tetraplegia.
Deliver and assist with:

Intermittent catheterisation
Pressure area care and repositioning
Safe moving and handling using hoists and specialist equipment

Recognise and respond to complications such as autonomic dysreflexia, UTIs, and skin breakdown.
Accurately record care provided and report any concerns to the clinical team.

Personal Care & Daily Support

Assist with personal care, including washing, dressing, and grooming.
Support with nutrition, hydration, and daily routines.
Promote independence and support rehabilitation goals within the home environment.

Communication & Documentation

Follow detailed care plans and clinical instructions.
Maintain accurate records in line with company policies.
Communicate effectively with clients, families, and the wider care team.

Person Specification
Essential Criteria

Minimum 1 year experience in complex care, ideally within a private or home care setting
Experience supporting:

Spinal cord injuries
Intermittent catheter care

Competent in manual handling and use of equipment
Strong understanding of pressure care and clinical risk awareness

Qualifications

NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) desirable
Relevant clinical training in catheterisation desirable
