Company Accountant (AAT Qualified) – Contract (Potential to Go Permanent)
Location: Chesterfield Salary: £32,000–£45,000 Hours: Mon–Thurs 8:30am–4:30pm | Fri 8:30am–1:00pm Start Date: Must be available to start ASAP
Francesca’s Recruitment Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a small, friendly manufacturing business in Chesterfield. This hands‑on Company Accountant role is ideal for someone with up to five years’ experience who enjoys variety, takes pride in accuracy, and thrives in a close‑knit team where everyone supports each other.
This is a contract role with the potential to become permanent, offering stability, autonomy, and a genuinely welcoming working environment.
The Opportunity
You’ll take ownership of day‑to‑day financial operations across multiple small businesses within the group. This is a practical, processing‑focused role with plenty of variety — from reconciliations and VAT to import/export routines and supporting a systems transition.
Because this is a small business, you’ll also help with general office duties, including answering the phone and greeting visitors. It’s a role for someone who’s happy to get stuck in and be part of a supportive team.
Key Responsibilities

Daily bank reconciliations and transaction posting

Credit card statement reconciliation

Purchase and sales ledger management

Payroll spreadsheet preparation

VAT returns and import VAT record maintenance
*
Monthly journals and balance sheet reconciliations
*
Fixed asset register maintenance
*
Year‑end support and stock count postings
*
SAP Business One transition support
*
General office duties and admin cover
*
Answering the phone and welcoming visitors
About You
*
AAT qualified or at final study level
*
Ideally from a practice background
*
Up to five years’ accounting experience
*
Strong Excel skills and excellent attention to detail
*
Confident with processing tasks and import/export routines
*
Organised, self‑motivated, and professional
*
Happy working in a small team and supporting wider office tasks
*
Available to start immediately
