We are looking for dedicated Domestic Cleaners to join the NHSP bank scheme to support the Facilities Team and help create safe, clean and welcoming environments for patients, visitors and staff across our Community Hospitals.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a supportive team where your work makes a real difference every day.
Based at Newton Abbot Community Hospital, these roles will support cleaning services across multiple Community Hospital sites.
We currently have two positions available:
Position 1: Covering Newton Abbot, Dawlish and Teignmouth Community Hospitals.
Position 2: Covering Newton Abbot, Brixham, Totnes and Paignton Community Hospitals.
You will be scheduled to work at one site per day, with rotas provided in advance so you will always know which hospital you are due to work at. As these roles support multiple locations, successful candidates must be able to travel independently to their allocated site when required.
As a Domestic Cleaner, you will undertake cleaning duties in line with National Cleaning Standards and Trust policies, ensuring healthcare environments remain clean, safe and hygienic. Full training will be provided, including all mandatory cleaning and compliance requirements.
This is a temporary but ongoing placement with no set end date, providing a great opportunity for continued work and the potential for long-term engagement.
Key Responsibilities
· Clean floors, walls, ceilings, fixtures, fittings, doors, windows and sanitary facilities using approved methods and equipment.
· Safely manage and dispose of waste in accordance with Trust Waste Policy.
· Replenish consumables including soap, toilet rolls and other supplies.
· Clean blinds, internal windows and change curtains when required.
· Ensure cleaning equipment is cleaned and stored correctly after use.
· Report faults, maintenance issues and equipment defects promptly.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
· Experience within a professional cleaning role.
· Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle. As this role supports a number of Community Hospital sites, you must be able to travel independently to your allocated place of work. Rotas will be shared in advance, and you will work at one site per day.
· Willingness to undertake all required training and attend all mandatory training and refresher sessions.
· Comfortable working with nursing teams, patients and members of the public.
· Willingness to occasionally work in unpleasant conditions, including warm ward-based kitchen environments.
Desirable:
* Previous NHS or healthcare setting experience.
