Role – Civil Site Engineer

Location – Manchester

Mint Selection are working with a leading IPP who are seeking an experienced Civil Site Engineer to join them on a 12 month contract immediately.

Scope of Work

*

Manage and oversee civil engineering works on BESS projects, including earthworks, foundations, drainage, access roads, ducting, fencing, and structural installations.

*

Interpret and implement technical drawings, specifications, and design information to ensure works are delivered in line with engineering standards.

*

Supervise and coordinate site activities, ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to quality requirements.

*

Conduct setting out, surveying, and level control using appropriate instruments (e.g., GPS, total station, laser level).

*

Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) procedures and CDM Regulations.

*

Maintain and record site documentation, including daily records, inspection and test plans (ITPs), red-line drawings, permits, and progress reports.

*

Work closely with Site Managers, Project Engineers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project delivery and coordination with electrical and mechanical teams.

*

Carry out quality assurance inspections and ensure works meet design and specification requirements before handover.

*

Support problem-solving and technical queries on site, escalating design or build issues where necessary.

*

Assist in commissioning support and project close-out, including preparation of as-built documentation.

Experience to be Considered

*

Previous experience as a Civil Site Engineer delivering infrastructure, substation, or renewable energy projects, ideally including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or Solar PV developments.

*

Strong understanding of civil construction principles, earthworks, foundations, drainage, and ducting.

*

Proficient in setting out and surveying techniques using total stations, GPS, and laser equipment.

*

Good knowledge of construction design drawings, specifications, and QA procedures.

*

Familiarity with BESS site interfaces between civil, electrical, and mechanical systems.

*

Strong attention to detail, organisational, and problem-solving skills.

*

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives.

These will be 12-month renewable contracts and are outside IR35.
