Chef Manager – School Catering

Location: Various Primary & Secondary Schools
Salary: £25,000 – £37,500
Hours: Term time / Full-time depending on site

Lead a school kitchen delivering fresh, nutritious meals to students each day. You will manage the kitchen, cook quality food, lead a small team, and ensure food safety standards are met while keeping the kitchen organised, efficient and welcoming.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and cook fresh, balanced meals for students and staff

*

Follow School Food Standards and allergy guidelines

*

Manage the daily running of the kitchen and meal service

*

Lead and support a small team of kitchen staff

*

Ensure high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness

*

Monitor food quality, portion control and waste

*

Manage stock ordering, deliveries and storage

*

Keep kitchen records such as temperature logs and cleaning schedules

*

Ensure equipment is used safely and maintained correctly

*

Work closely with school staff to deliver a smooth meal service

What We’re Looking For

*

Experience working as a Chef, Cook or Kitchen Manager

*

Experience in high-volume catering (schools, contract catering, care, etc.)

*

Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety regulations

*

Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willing to obtain)

*

Strong organisation and time management skills

*

Ability to lead and motivate a small kitchen team

Desirable

*

Experience working in school catering

*

Knowledge of School Food Standards

*

Level 3 Food Hygiene qualification

*

Experience with stock control and kitchen budgets
