Working Pattern: 3.5 shifts per week

About the Role

We are recruiting two dedicated Care Assistants to join a welcoming care home in the beautiful Totnes area of Devon.

We have one full-time day position and one full-time night position available, both offering a contracted 42 hours per week and a salary of £28,173.60 per annum.

The home provides a warm, supportive environment where residents receive high-quality, person-centred care. As a Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring residents feel safe, comfortable and valued throughout the day or night.

Working as part of a dedicated care team, you will provide compassionate support with personal care, daily routines, meals, activities and mobility, while promoting residents' dignity, independence, privacy and choice.

Whether you are working days or nights, you will become an important part of the team, building positive relationships with residents and helping to create a genuine home-from-home environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide high-quality, person-centred care to residents
Support residents with personal care, mobility and daily routines
Assist residents with washing, dressing and maintaining personal hygiene
Support with meals, refreshments and hydration
Encourage residents to maintain their independence wherever possible
Support residents to participate in activities and social interaction
Maintain residents' comfort, dignity, privacy and wellbeing
Respond promptly and compassionately to residents' needs and requests
Maintain accurate care records and documentation
Follow individual care plans and ensure residents' needs are met
Promote a safe, comfortable and supportive environment
Work collaboratively with colleagues and the wider care team
Build positive and respectful relationships with residents and their families
Report any changes in residents' health or wellbeing to the appropriate senior team member
Follow all relevant care policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements

Candidate Requirements

Previous experience in a care setting is preferred but not essential
NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care is desirable
A compassionate, caring and patient nature
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Reliable and committed approach to work
A genuine passion for supporting older people and improving their quality of life
Ability to work either day or night shifts depending on the position
Professional, respectful and person-centred approach to care
Ability to build strong and trusting relationships with residents
