Assistant Accountant / Yeovil / £19.10 per hour (PAYE)
12‑month temporary contract
An excellent opportunity for an AAT qualified or part‑qualified Assistant Accountant to join a large engineering/manufacturing environment in Yeovil. Ideal for local candidates who can start at short notice.
You'll support the Industrial Performance & Operations team with operating cost accounting, month‑end, budgeting and reporting, as activities are brought back in‑house from an external provider.
Key responsibilities
Support month‑end: cost analysis, accruals, journals and reconciliations.
Ensure correct cost allocation to cost elements and cost centres.
Assist with operating cost budgets and forecasts; highlight risks and opportunities.
Respond to finance queries from the business and explain variances.
Help document and improve processes and support insourcing activities.
Assist with external audit preparation and evidence gathering.About you
AAT qualified or Part‑Qualified (or equivalent).
Experience in an assistant accountant/finance role (month‑end, accruals, reporting).
Strong Excel skills; good PowerPoint skills.
Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
Analytical, accurate, proactive and well‑organised.
