Are you an experienced Finance Officer looking for your next opportunity within a busy and varied corporate finance environment?
We are currently recruiting for a Finance Officer to join a well-established organisation within its Corporate Finance team. This is an excellent 12-month fixed-term opportunity with great scope for the role to become permanent, making it an ideal opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within a growing finance function.
Based in modern offices with excellent public transport links, the organisation offers a great working environment, including free on-site parking, an on-site gym and canteen. Hybrid working is available following successful completion of probation.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day financial transactions, reporting and analysis for a number of UK companies within the Group.
You will work as part of a busy Finance team, while also being trusted to work independently and use your initiative. This is a varied role suited to someone with solid accountancy fundamentals and previous experience working within a similar finance position.
Key Responsibilities
Preparation of monthly management accounts, including Trial Balance, Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet
Preparation of actual versus budget variance analysis
Management of the General Ledger, Cashbook and end-to-end Sales and Purchase Ledger processes
Reconciliation of multiple bank accounts and Balance Sheet accounts
Investigation and resolution of aged items, including preparation of supporting schedules
Raising internal and external invoices and ensuring accurate revenue recognition
Credit control for internal and external clients, investigating aged balances and taking appropriate action
Maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register
Inputting financial information into the reporting system for assigned companies
Identifying opportunities to streamline, automate or improve existing processes
Supporting year-end activities and external audit requirements
Ensuring all corporate reporting is completed within agreed deadlines
Supporting a range of additional finance activities as required
Providing assistance to the wider Corporate Finance team with ad hoc duties and projects
Occasional travel may be required
We are looking for someone with previous experience in a similar finance role who is confident working across a broad range of accounting responsibilities.
You will ideally have:
Relevant accountancy experience, qualified by experience
Experience preparing accounts through to Trial Balance
Strong understanding of core accountancy principles
Experience of month-end processes
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly advanced Excel
Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
A proactive and responsive approach
The ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team
A confident and approachable communication style
The ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
