SRM Recruitment have been retained by a reputable organisation to recruit an Assistant Accountant based in Hitchin. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional to play a key role in supporting core accounting processes and ensuring accuracy across the business.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be an integral part of the finance team, responsible for managing general ledger transactions and reconciliations, preparing and auditing customer rebate claims, setting and reviewing budgets with cost centre owners, managing sub-ledgers, and handling ad hoc finance requests.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review cost reports and budgets.
Develop cost centre budgets with Finance and the wider business for planning and forecasting
Manage journals, credit notes, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Audit customer rebates and claims.
Support audits, tax pack preparation, and SOX reviews.
Participate in stock counts and cycle accuracy checks.
Assist with process improvements and ad hoc tasks.Qualifications and Experience
AAT qualified or qualified by experience.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Previous experience in a similar role preferred.
Knowledge of SOX, US GAAP, and UK GAAP would be an advantage.
