A well‑established independent accountancy practice based in Central Bristol is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its growing business.

The Role
This is a hands‑on senior role with significant client contact and autonomy. The successful candidate will manage their own client portfolio while supporting and guiding junior team members.
Duties will include:
Producing high‑quality client work including:
Statutory accounts
Management accounts
Corporation tax computations
VAT returns
Payroll
General accounting and tax advice
UK companies and partnerships
Providing technical support to members of the accounting services team
Keeping up to date with changes in accounting and tax legislation and advising clients on the impact
Assisting with the monitoring of workflow to ensure work is completed accurately and on time
Supporting the design and implementation of improved accounting systems for clients, including training client staff
Preparing and presenting:
Management accounts
Budgets
Forecasts and cashflows
Networking and business development activity to support new client acquisition
Overseeing bookkeeping functions and a small payroll bureau where required
Technical experience desirable:
VAT
CIS
PAYE
OMB personal tax returns
About You
An experienced general practice accountant who enjoys managing their own client files
Comfortable working largely unsupervised, with final review from a senior team member
Confident communicating directly with clients and building long‑term relationships
Able to handle a busy workload while effectively utilising and supporting the wider team
Strong commercial awareness and good judgement on when to escalate matters

Background & Experience
Previous experience working within an accountancy practice is essential
Strong experience producing full sets of accounts
Personal and corporate tax experience required
Qualified or qualified‑by‑experience candidates welcomed — skills and experience are the priority
This role is not suited to candidates still in training
Package
Salary of £50,000 plus DOE
6‑month probationary period
Scope to further develop the role for the right individual
