Description

I am currently recruiting for a LEARNING MENTOR at a residential Special Academy for up to 80 boys aged 9 to 16 who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties. You will be supporting students on a 1:1 basis and general. I have positions in both SECONDARY and PRIMARY.

The school provide a highly effective and individual package of education, care and pastoral support to young people who may have had only negative experiences of school. A safe, caring environment supported by high levels of staffing ensures that each pupil has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

The schools is a school with a big heart. They were rated Outstanding by Ofsted in 2015 with the care and support for young people, their families and our staff as a considerable strength.

Well trained, supported and motivated staff provide consistently high levels of care. They develop strong, trusting relationships with young people. Ofsted 2015

The SEN school is based in the picturesque and highly-sought after village of Chobham. Located in north west Surrey, Chobham has excellent transport links, being close to the M3 and M25. The Academy draws pupils from a range of backgrounds, both urban and rural, across Surrey and also neighbouring LEAs. We’re a proud member of Academies Enterprise Trust (AET) network of Academies.

Working with us

We’re looking for candidates as a LEARNING MENTOR with the desire to meet the individual learning needs to allow pupils to succeed and flourish. And the ability to motivate students and colleagues to recognise and respond to the diverse needs of learners. This is a challenging environment where resilience and staying power is paramount.

In return, as LEARNING MENTOR with us, we offer a professional learning journey tailored to individual needs. We value and support our staff with a comprehensive career development programme, as well as an attractive range of financial, health and well-being benefits.

We provide experiences, social learning and formal programmes that enable staff as a LEARNING MENTOR to develop new skills, and to work, collaborate, learn and develop with colleagues across our large network. There is also regular support and supervision for staff to ensure they remain at the peak of their emotional well-being.

Staff have access to a good range of training opportunities focused on meeting the needs of young people and keeping them safe. Ofsted 2015

If you’re an energetic and visionary LEARNING MENTOR with a passion for the value your subject can bring to students, then come and join a team who work every day to motivate and empower young people and maximise potential.

What we offer

The Academy offers a modern purpose built residential facility. The boys have either single or shared rooms which they can personalise and they are encouraged to see the room as their own. The units offer a safe, friendly and caring environment and staff support the young people, by offering consistency and continuity in behaviour management, and encourage them to take responsibility for their own actions and make informed decisions.

As part of our evening activities programme throughout the year we include mountain biking, astro turf football, badminton, bowling, laser quest, pool, snooker, tracking, dodge ball, golf, playstation, xbox, art and craft, cookery, swimming and trips out to places of interest such as Windsor, Boxhill and the beach. Each unit has its own computer and carefully regulated internet access and this can be used in the evening as well as playing a variety of more traditional games.
