Description

A leading supplier for Oil & Gas sector are looking for a Project Software Engineer to join their successful team based in Yorkshire. The puropse of the role will be to undertake bespoke software design and implementation of metering computer, measurement and control systems for oil and gas applications.

The successful person will be responsible for software fault finding and bug fixing, version and configuration control, identifying any need for specialist engineering and accurate estimation thereof. Ensuring that software is comprehensively tested, documented and archived prior to formal release.

Qualifications and Experience

Degree level in computer science / programming (or alternative engineering degree combined with a software engineering discipline.)
C# and/or C++ with preferably with Microsoft Developer Studio
Working knowledge of multi-threading & concurrency
Object orientated design and implementation; networking TCP/IP, routers & switches
Basic SQL database knowledge (minimum)
Knowledge of HMI graphical interfaces, Java and Visual Basic are advantageous but not essential
General awareness and appreciation of the Oil & Gas industry
Demonstrable fault finding and de-bugging experience & capability
Skills and Personal Qualities

Ability to work as a team member
Clear communication skills in English language (written and verbal)
Ability to work using own initiative (with little supervision)
Driven and goal orientated
Innovative and focused on improvements
Ability to work under pressure to tight timescales
As part of a flexible engineering team you are expected to be self-motivated, independent and in most part self - managed
You must be well organised and methodical
You must be able to demonstrate a huge amount of accuracy and diligence, however due on occasion to demanding time deadlines you must be able to perform to the highest standards without compromising quality
You will possess a customer focused attitude understanding priorities and times critical task
The role is based in Yorkshire and commutable from York, Scarborough, Leeds, Driffield, Malton, Hull, Middlesbrough and Market Weighton.

Whilst this role is predominantly office based there will be a requirement from time-to-time to travel in both the UK and overseas sometimes at short notice (onshore, offshore).
